King Kurt - Zulu Beat

On this date in 1982, King Kurt released their debut single, "Zulu Beat". It was backed by "Rockin' Kurt". Both tracks appeared on their debut album, Ooh Wallah Wallah, though they were both re-recorded. The single was an independent release that got them enough attention to get them signed to Stiff Records. The English psychobilly band released three albums before disbanding briefly in 1988. The band members change often but they are still together with lead singer Smeg still up front.
