Gary Numan - Cars

On this date in 1979, Gary Numan released his debut post-Tubeway Army single, "Cars". It was backed by "Asylum". The A side appeared on his debut solo album, The Pleasure Principle. The B side was a non-LP track that was added as a bonus track to the album when it was re-released on CD. The single reached the #1 spot on the U.K. singles chart and the #9 spot on the U.S. singles chart. The London new wave musician continues to record and tour.
