Kelly Chen (陳慧琳) visited Kuala Lumpur's largest shopping mall yesterday to take part in a promotional event for the Bonia 2009 Collection Fashion Preview.
Due to time constraints, Kelly was only shown the shoes that she was to model after arriving at the event, but she had prepared a trunk full of potential outfits and accessories from which to match them. In the end, she appeared in a black and white Diane von Furstenberg dress to perform in. Kelly showed off her multi-lingual ability by singing three songs in three different languages: "Stars Dreams True Love" <星夢情真> in Cantonese, "Flying with the Dreams" <隨夢而飛> in Mandarin and "Lovers' Concerto" in English.
As it has been a while since Kelly last visited Malaysia, her fans were eagerly waiting for her when she arrived and immediately presented her with gifts of local delicacies, including durian puffs, durian cake and fruits. Kelly was very touched by the welcoming gesture.
After the show, Kelly shared a top-grade durian with the crew that is renowned for its flavour that includes hints of alcohol, milk, chocolate, sweetness and bitterness. Kelly remarked that she could taste the alcohol flavour and it was like nothing she had tried in Hong Kong. She laughed that she did not know that durians could be savoured in this way, like red wine.
Kelly is currently busy working on her forthcoming Mandarin album and most of the songs being prepared will be about being happy and lucky. As a result, Kelly smiled that this album will be extremely "sweet".
Kelly Chen Is A Working Wife
Kelly Chen (陳慧琳) arrived back at Hong Kong airport today, returning after job as a spokemodel for watch-makers Jaeger LeCoultre in Taiwan.
She revealed to the waiting reporters that she would be spending the next few days resting at home, before going to the mainland to do more work.
Asked if she had missed her new husband during her time away, she said that she had and that she was on the phone to him all the time.
She admitted that she was worried that she had put on weight, because she had not been to Taiwan for so long and could not resist the temptation to eat lots of famous Taiwanese cuisine.
Kelly married Alex Lau (劉建浩), her partner of 16 years, a week ago today.
Kelly Chen Ties The Knot
Kelly Chen (陳慧琳) shed tears of joy last night as she tied the knot with her partner of 16 years, businessman Alex Lau (劉建浩), at the InterContinental Hotel.
Kelly, 36, and Alex, 35, exchanged vows before hundreds of relatives and friends at 52 tables in the ballroom. Eric Tsang (曾志偉) and Jerry Lamb (林曉峰) were the MCs.
The bride wore an off-white wedding dress, with a 10-metre train and 999 cloth flowers, designed by friend and art director Kenneth Yee (奚仲文). Her six-carat wedding ring matched her 10-carat diamond earrings. The groom looked smart in a black tuxedo.
In a touching moment after the couple crossed arms for a customary champagne toast, Kelly became overwhelmed with emotion and dabbed a tissue to her damp eyes, while comforted by her new husband.
In a photo call just before the ceremony Kelly had told reporters: "I thought I'd be moved to tears by now, but I haven't yet because I've been in a rush all day. I've been too busy to cry."
She added: "I'm still not used to being called 'Mrs Lau'."
Kelly's manager revealed that Alex paid for the wedding and that the banquet alone cost around HK$3 million.
The generous couple also laid on 12 tables and an $888-a-head buffet in a separate room for journalists.
