I think we should preserve his body and burn it at the site of ground zero this 9/11! How's that for a 10 year anniversary celebration?

Since when did a persons lifestyle choice become everyone else's business? Jesus, I didn't realize being fat was such an ethical decision...
And to actually bring in healthcare and politics into this? Seriously? Then you guys should:
1) stop smoking cigarettes,
2) stop eating fast food,
3) stop sitting on your ass typing on mac rumors (maybe go for a run?)
4) avoid ever single carcinogen on the planet, like say, the sun (UV radiation?)...
5) stop driving cars, or doing anything that involves fast or dangerous movement, like say sports?
6) be the perfect most healthy person ever...
...because it's my problem. I'm paying for it in my taxes. HOW COULD YOU BE SO SELFISH!?
This is her choice. It effects her and her family, not you. I forgot how God declared that fat people go straight to hell, because being fat is so evil...

For Mac users, why would we want to install Vista-(via BootCamp) and then also use it under virtualization?
On my MacBook, the BootCamp install is for software that needs direct access to the hardware and where performance under virtualization would suck. ;) I run Windows XP/Vista under Parallels to check out how the web pages that I create on the Mac side using MAMP. Seriously, who in their right mind would install IE7 on their Windows system before the first service pack comes out?

Have you used a 4.3" phone. They don't seem that much physically bigger but the screen size is awesome! Apple keeps getting squeezed with adding new technology because of the size limitations of the phone. Giving us a slightly bigger size with the advantage of a bigger screen size AND more components seems like an excellent tradeoff.
Yeah - I know if will never happen because SJ is compulsive obsessive with never making things bigger.
Tony
The current size is more than adequate for me, and I use reading glasses! The screen could possibly be increased I suppose if the black areas were somehow shrunk, but unless your hands are like shovels the phones already big enough.

Spring-loaded folders in the dock. So you can drag a file onto a folder in the dock and have it spring open - like in the Finder.
Oh. I thought it would be how fast the dock unhides when you hover over it.

People's perception of reality matters more in these situations than actual reality. The fact that the average guy in the street probably still thinks/thought of him as the head of al-Qaeda is the important part.
This acceptance of perception being more important than reality is exactly why everyone hates politics, its how this kind of thing works. It's a huge part of the problem when reality doesn't matter any more. It's an immense danger.

So far, Leopard is something I'm not willing to pay for.
I expected just a little bit of a UI change, it just looks like a little updated version of Tiger.
I really wonder what these top secret features are because the current features aren't impressing me enough to open my wallet.
Ergh, you do realise this is a Developer's Preview? A BETA version ie. not finished, not anywhere near finished, feature-incomplete, "for testing only" version of Leopard don't you?
Tiger (especially Dashboard) changed beyond recognition between it's sneak peek and release.

As the owner of a 1GHz eMac that will be 8 years old this summer, I've been targeting this as the year to upgrade to a 27" Core i7 iMac. We also have a MacBook that is getting up there in computer age. I'm really looking forward to this refresh, but I'll be waiting until this summer when they are shipping with Lion installed. I figure I've waited this long already, what's another few months?! I can't wait to do some home video editing on a machine that can easily handle it and dabble in some gaming on games that aren't 8-10 years old (even if most of my gaming will still be on the Xbox 360).

Duh, I can't believe some of the comments there...
Probably iAds?
No, it has to be a) a device (it's a app requirement list!) and b) something that runs iOS 3.0+.
Could it be the Mac App Store?
See above.
apps for macs………..
WTF? What's that? Anyway, see above.
As for guesses for iPhone 5, no, that one's already covered by the "iPhone and iOS 3.0 or later" in that list. Same for iPod Touch, and iPad revisions.
My only guess right now is Apple TV.
Edit: Some here speculate in an iOS + OS X merge, and I guess that *could* happen. That could be compatible with iOS 3.0 and fit that list. Perhaps it's the biggest surprise Apple is holding back for OS X Lion. I still think a new revision of Apple TV is more likely though, since it already runs iOS.

Marketshare matters.
Why? The biggest and the most obvious reason is that developing for and porting software to OS X becomes more attractive to developers. Greater market share also helps Apple in its dealings with major partners like Intel and Microsoft.
The other big benefit for consumers is that we may see more product offerings from Apple as the number of macs sold increases. How about that Mac media center everyone's been talking about? Or the fabled Mac tablet?
True, I was being pretty flippant with that reply.
Having said that, I was attempting to underline the point that marketshare is a percentage. Even an apparently low figure (even 5% which we're all hoping for is still a small percentage!) represents a sizeable market, considering the size of the computing industry in general.

The bundle is 250gb.
Have to say, I'm jealous of the Reach buyers. Getting ready to move so need to stick to essential expenditures :(
In the UK, there's a 4GB Reach bundle. Only reason I mentioned it.

well i can't believe Apple came thru today. i'm glad they did though. i didn't see the 2GB of ram coming though
Yeah 2GB RAM, well I guess Apple's new apps (maybe even taking virtualization into consideration) and Leopard will like RAM...I have 1.5GB....:o

Aren't we quickly getting to the point where it's all about the software?
Ok, so we know iPhone 5 will get dual core A5....big deal. It'll be nice to have the extra power, but the iPhone 4 now is no slouch.
Added RAM.....yeah, that would be nice....but not going to suddenly sell more phones because it has more RAM :p
Display won't get any better resolution-wise. Doubt they'd go with a larger screen either.
Better cameras....ok.....still, the iPhone 4 cameras are no slouch, and it's not like it will reach the quality of a nice DSLR with those tiny sensors.
Better graphics processing.....sure.....but it's not like it has to drive a 9.7" screen like the iPad.
I'd say Apple is smartly switching into software mode. Kick ass with iOS5, revamp notifications, make some much needed overhauls to the system, and optimize performance for todays devices (iPhone 4, iPad & iPad 2).
Apple is going to stay ahead with software. That's the way Apple is and always has been.

I agree fully. Other than incremental spec bumps that keep up with the industry and dropping component prices and moving into newer and newer radio technologies, what else is there to cram into the hardware? Sure in the future there will be some new must include hardware technology, but it doesnt exist today.
Apples competitive edge (with Mac & iDevices) is in the OSes and apps. The only thing Im clamoring for in iOS 5 is liberating iDevices from iTunes on a PC/Mac. Sure, people can still use iTunes, but it shouldnt be the only way. iPads especially should be fully independent devices as theyll increasingly be the only computer for a large demographiclike my mom.

It's my Birthday before Christmas. Next Friday, 5th November. The ex-Missus is getting me the new BlazBlue
http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/5192vbqXcpL._SL500_AA300_.jpg
Which has unfortunately just been delayed until a couple of weeks after my 31st. Other than that, I'm getting myself a 27" Cinema Display. What I would like is a really nice knife block and set of decent chef's knives.

That's horrible. There are so many actors that would love to be in this man's shoes. Not to mention that tons of crew members who are now without work due to his actions. SMH!

Oh I found it: CrossOver Mac. Not sure if it will support Vista though.
Seeing as Crossover doesn't require MS-Windows, it doesn't "support" any version thereof. It emulates Windows APIs.

The design, print, packaging, promo, photographic and fashion industry is overwhelmingly Mac-based.
Can I add film, television production and public relations/advertising to that list?

But what Apple can do with this technology is give it a thicker, more substantial, more scratch-resistant, possibly more smudge resistant surface on which the user can touch and interact with the UI.
You already don't touch the iPod screen on the current iPod, and they couldn't do that. Why a none-touch ipod means it will scratch less is beyond me.

whats funny is that I walked into the Mac Store yesterday, the guy new everything about the product but seemed a little too clueless about the product cycle.
Mac Store employees *don't* know anything specific about product updates.
There's almost 1000 Apple store employees worldwide. If they knew details, don't you find it really, really odd that none of them leaked any?
