On this date in 1979, The Ruts released their debut album, The Crack. It contained the singles, "Babylon's Burning", "Something That I Said" and "Jah War". The London punk/post punk band lasted two albums (the second, a semi-compilation) before the overdose death of singer Malcolm Owen. They tried to carry on under a new name, Ruts DC, with very limited success. They disbanded in 1983.
